Just to clarify,

the contest entries will not be something like "write articles, do ppc, etc."

but these must be step by step strategies to keep the quality high for members and sponsors.

If everyone contributes their best, then we will all gain the most possible from the event.  Grin

The best way to obtain traffic in my opinion is via Ebay
as it gets a ton of visitors and everybody likes to see
something different.

Just place a wacky auction item, it can be and has been
a Mcdonalds hamburger, a mangled dreadlocked barbie
doll (with an humourous writeup)  you know,
something really unusual and humorous.  Build
up a good sales page for it.

Then find the right category and place the auction.
eBay ? Totally Bizarre, Weird Stuff and Everything Else items on ...
Take a note of the auction number and the headline.

Now promote the auction details to sites that like crazy
auctions eg goofyauctions.com/ dumbauctions.com,
http://www.bizarrebids.com, http://www.strangebids.com/

The more you can promote to these sites the more traffic
you're likely to get of course. PLUS you may get some very
good bidding as well. Like $000's are possible for
something unique which costs next to  nothing to put
together.

Heck, you can outsource it.

The attraction of these auctions is the 'dinner table
gossip' value they hold. How I paid $2,876 for a Mcdonald
hamburger and chips.

There's a ton of these crazy auction sites where you
can lodge your item.  Just google in adjectives like
crazy, bizarre, silly, mad and then ebay.

Underneath the item you're auctioning you need to
put your domain name or url - nice big letters and
that way people will come in droves to check you out.

You may even be able to furl or digg or de.lic.ious it or whatever.
Twitter too for all you're worth. Create a gangbuster!!!!

I've got some ripper ideas.
Contact me and Ill give up the goods.  Creativity is
my middle name and if thats not you, then outsource it
for mad ideas.  Watch the garage sales for 'objects'
you can use.

You're better off with a somewhat wacky affiliate product
or  at least one that will relate slightly  to the auction item,
if possible.  Joke books, joke wedding speeches  etc.

Thats it, good luck.

According to me best way to get traffic is the same as you are using now ! Confused ??

Ok let me make myself clear !!

The best way of getting traffic is by starting contests and giving prize as cash  b'coz there is no person in this planet who do not need cash !

So I think starting a good contest with Cash as a prize is the best way to get traffic !!

If you are new and do not want to waste your money on contests here is the best option.

Just make some good videos and upload it on Youtube !! There are 2 main reasons why I selected Youtube :

1) It can really boost your traffic
2) You can get alot of traffic from Search Engines also !! As youtube vidoes are displayed on the first page of Google and Yahoo that is ehy it is the best way to increase traffic !!

Well, here is my first post Smiley

Steps:
- Create a product. It could be a software, a service, a hardware, or an informative site.
- Create a "How to Use" page or "FAQs" page or "ContactUs" page, pages like that means that are interactive with persons' psyche. I will tell you now why I want you to create that.
- Create a good informative page for your product on wikipedia. Yes, wikipedia. I will tell u why later. So, make a good looking, informative, and well presented page about your product.
- Find similar pages on Wiki realted to your product and "Add" your page's link to "External Links".
- Why wiki -> It may seem awkward to use wiki, but believe me or not, its "2nd to google search results" on the first page, you are getting my point right !

It will turn around your traffic stats from 0-1000 in a single day. Try it.

One of my best traffic generators has been with viral quizzes, movies and ebooks/reports:

1. Think of a quiz, movie, game or ebook/report that is likely to resonate with your target market.

2. Script the quiz, movie, game or ebook/report (i.e. work out the text and images).

3. Create the quiz, movie, game or ebook/report or hire someone to create it for you.

4. Create the website and upload the quiz, movie, game or ebook/report. Be sure to optimize the site for the search engines AND have a referral form and/or sign up form display after the quiz is completed, game is played, movie is finished, ebook is read, etc. You want people to refer the viral content to others and if you can entice them to join your list, even better.

5. Ask for feedback on your quiz, movie, game or ebook/report in appropriate online forums. If you've done a good job, you'll get people starting to  refer others to the content.

6. Tell your list about the quiz, movie, game or ebook/report (and your friends, family, etc).

7. Submit your quiz, movie or game to the various viral advertising sites, lists, etc. (Not recommended for ebooks/reports which are bit too "ho hum" for these places)

8. Issue a press release about your quiz, movie, game or ebook/report.

9. Add a message about your quiz, movie, game or ebook/report in your autoresponder series (ie. providing it's a suitable list/market)

10. Watch the traffic come in!

Out of the many easy ways of sending paying traffic is to write Tech-articles for new-bies/layman.

Lets say your article is published in some well-to-do e-magazine/website. Or if you are a programming/developer guy than at "codeproject"  etc.... Publishing an article at a good place and for the majrotiy which in our case is newbie makes a huge difference. Article topics like "How to use...", How to convert...", "What is the difference between..." and so on. So when u write article based on your target market, you can easily mould the traffic at your site.

Hi Guys and Girls,

Thanks for all the entries to this competiton!

There were a couple of cool entries, but the one that
really stood out as a really effective way to drive tons
of traffic to your website is the wiki example.

I actually use this example myself and it works
particularly well with ehow too!

Although most of the posts were pretty general
in nature I feel that coldfire has nudged ahead as
the winner of this competition.

Congratulions to all the other contestants that
took the time to enter this competition.

coldfire, can you please PM me your paypal
details and I will shoot your $100 prize money!

Congratulations!

Take Care,

Michael Silvester

Cool work Coldfire.

I know that when i tested this back then in the days, it used to garner me an average of 300 uniques every month. What is your result with it?

p/s- i still constantly get some traffic from a few choice keywords that i dominate in there.. Wonder how long i last before i get "edited out".. Pray it wont be so soon.  Undecided :-)

thanks man!
out of the few pages for which I am and have used wiki-traffic has returned me always good traffic...sometimes 150uniques/day and on some pages its 50/day on average. It always depends on where  you put your link as 'external link' and what your link/webpage presents. If your link lands on a page full of Ads than you may get edited out by the mods. So, using Wiki doesnt mean you always want traffic to get people clicking ur ads. I used it for educational purposes.....

Amazingly, but the most overlooked traffic tip is again... overlooked.

And it's not even a complicated tip, but one that is very doable and one that has been around for soooo long that it even predated the WWW.

Press releases are a great way to tell the world about your product, site or service.  What's great is that you can get into google news and everyone who has a news reader with your keywords flagged will get your content. Smiley

It's easy, huh?
