I have tried looking through list building sites, but can't figure out how you get people on your list, outside of t hose who are already members on the list building site.

What techniques do you suggest for building lists?

On my site, quickeatsplus.com, I offer a bunch of shrimp recipes to those who request it. I require their web address & first name and have compiled a list of 156 names which is probably enough to justify creating a newsletter but I haven't yet done that. Shame on lazy me.

Hey Phil,

No shame man! You've done well. Now it's time to expand upon what you've already done.

Perhaps you can send a poll, thanking your subscribers for downloading the recipes and then saying their feedback is important to you while requesting their vote on which recipes are their top 10 favorites.

You can tell them that a newsletter is coming soon and then go on from there.
