Using Forums to Increase Online Traffic to Your Website

You probably already understand the importance of making sure that you are receiving targeted traffic to your website.  Although there are dozens of different ways that you can do this, one of the most effective is by using Internet forums.  After all, a forum is little more than a community of like-minded individuals who gather together to discuss a particular topic.  If your website happens to fit in with that topic, what better place would there be to gain some targeted visitors?

If you're going to use forums to increase online traffic to your website, however, you better learn a little bit of forum etiquette first.  The last thing that you want to do is to enter into the forum and blast a marketing message to all of the members on your very first post.  Forums tend to be tight communities and they don't take kindly to people acting in this way.  It may seem like a good idea at first, but your credibility will quickly be lost and you will lose your ability to go into the forum to post again.

If you really want to increase online traffic by using forums, you need to become a valuable member of the community.  Take a little bit of time to read what people are talking about and jump in on the discussion, making sure that you are adding something of value to the community.  You can always leave a link to your website discreetly in the signature line.  If you're helpful to those within the forum community, you would be surprised at how many will follow the link back to your website in order to see what else you have to say.

Being an active & valuable member in a forum  & providing a link to your website in the signature space will quickly increase traffic to your website. This is one of the best method of attracting visitors. Here the main advantage is that the visitors from the forum are interested in your writings & have faith on you.So they will visit your site repeatedly.

I've heard that many posts are submitted by folks who are being paid to submit.  If this is true should we be bothered or do we really care if they make worthwhile contributions?

I am glad I bumped into this post. Forums are a great way to attract attention to your blog or website. I also have a little extra to share here. Some forums, such as Mylot, where I am an active member, actually allow you to add your blogs or websites and this greatly increases your chance your blog or website being seen or visited.

I totally agree on this - If you really want to increase online traffic by using forums, you need to become a valuable member of the community.

A forum really can be a great way to increase traffic to your site as well as help in creating 'the right kind' of traffic where the members are actually interested in the topics at hand. It's marketing and content creation all in one really.

Hi guys.  You are overlooking a powerful effect of having your link in a high traffic quality forum.  That is most search engines often check for link relevance.  Can you imagine if you have a car repair service, and you have inbound links on a forum page that has CAR MAINTENANCE TIPS or HOW TO REPAIR YOUR CAR cited over and over again.  It would not only drive your traffic up, but boost your rankings.
