We are here all for one purpose - to learn more about the web and making $; there are so many specialties that it is difficult to be an expert in all the sub-fields!

Hi, my name is maryelser and I'm looking to find out how to bring traffic to my blog. You notice how I wrote, bring traffic- not more traffic? Lol, I had one blog for over a year and I might have had 50 people come by all year long.

Mary,

What you are describing with your experience is not at all uncommon.

However, we're about to load you up with more traffic than you can handle.

Can you handle that? Lol.

One of the reasons that blogs are such great platforms for promotion is that they allow dynamic content to be passed around the world so easily with all the plugins available.

What I recommend doing Mary is doing a bit of research on the most searched keywords relating to your blog's focus.

You can use keyword research softwares like the free keyword suggestion tool at wordtracker,

or seobook.

For digging a bit deeper, you may prefer a monthly subscription to http://nichebot.com

or check out the free competitive data analysis available at http://keywordspy.com

After you've got several of your phrases that you know from reliable intelligence is being searched for daily by your target
visitor,

now is the time to create your content based upon it, publish it to your blog and get the word out about it fast.

There are several plugins and widgets as well as rss (real simple syndication) that allow various publishers to

subscribe to your latest content posts in feeds.

By providing the link to access your rss feed to as many promiment "centers of influence" sites in your niche as possible,

you'll have your content published in the exact places you need it to bring not only "some" traffic to your site...

but all the targeted traffic you can handle!

Also, you want to take advantage of the huge popularity of social networking sites available too by making it easy for

as many visitors as possible to share the link to your feed as well as any individual posts as possible by

adding the code of social bookmarking sites to your blog and including a stong, incentivized call to action to every visitor

in order get them bookmarking and sharing your site with others.

If you already know that the search engines index the titles of your blog posts as the title of your listing in their index,

why not make the title of everyone of your new blog posts just as search engine friendly as possible

by adding a healthy amount of your most searched keywords and phrases into the titles of your posts to get them in front

as many laser targeted eyeballs as possible.

This makes it extremely efficient for you because you are only going to be receiving visitors to your blog who have already expressed

an interest in the content you have published.  Cool

Just apply a few of these principles and you'll notice a dramatic increase in your traffic Mary.

Also be sure to keep searching through this forum for many more ways to flood all your sites

with the kind of visitors you want visiting...targeted!

To Your Success!

Welcome, Sam! I am new too, and I am looking forward to learn a few new things here. I have a blog focused on freelance writing opportunities. It is just a few months old, but it shows great promise. I have already had a few hundred visitors to it, which isn't anything to brag about. But, I consider it to be an achievement because I am really very new to this. I wish you a great experience on this forum!

Hello and Welcome Sam!

Glad to be of service.

For the people who are asking about how to get more traffic, or getting traffic at all. It's a matter of 1 thing, value.

Your visitors are already out there on the internet somewhere, right? They are surfing or searching somewhere.

Your job as a marketer is to be in front of them with a message that resonates with them. So, anything that might help them solve their problem in any way is a greay way to begin.

I'm often times out in forums helping folks on topics I am interested in, and traffic for my websites seem to be a topic I somehow became good at, so I'm here.

You might be good or know a few things about something else, so hang out in those forums and provide good information to those people. You will attract them with your content and value that you provide.

Even if you are just posting 2 tips to lose weight with inspiration and passion they will listen to you, try it! (by the way, the secret is diet + exercise Wink

You can also post articles and other things on article directories explaining what you know.

Post videos on video sharing sites is another way to get in front of your potential visitors (you don't need to be seen)
