The premise of the online giveaway is really quite simple. By opting in to some type of promotion, freebie's, contests etc... you obtain a free giveaway or entry and become part of the network marketers list. The idea is to create offers that are relevant to a marketers products or services and basically give them away and create a list that is capable of receiving information in the future.

Some lists are worth being part of as the marketer wants to create value so they will offer quality and value to keep the interest in being part of their list. They pride themselves in giving before they receive and those principles earn confidence and trust in their followers and that pays them with sales and targeted traffic.

There are many ways in which to build powerful lists including social media, ads, squeeze pages etc.... example of opt-in page = http://adclinics.com

Freebies are a great way to drive traffic to your site. They tap into a basic human motivation – if it’s free, they will come – and everyone who visits your site for the freebie has the potential to become your next customer. But remember not to go overboard with the freebies. Your customers will be turned off by “information overload.” Choose wisely - make sure the giveaways connect to your target audience, and are useful and high quality. In short, your freebies should be something that YOU would love to get for free!

I always thought of giveaways as being of more value in getting your name known then actual sales from the initial traffic. Expect your payoff to be exposure, not profit.

I haven't contributed to a giveaway yet but this is something I plan on trying very soon.  I have heard great things about the boost they can give to your subscriber list.  My only hesitation is that I am not sure I want a list of freebie seekers.  I'd much rather sell something low-priced and get real buyers on my list.
